How red light therapy works for Acne, Eczema & Redness

Beneath your skin, acne and redness is fueled by inflamed pores, overactive oil glands, and bacteria.

Our red light therapy provides a gentle, non-invasive treatment that helps calm inflammation, reduce blemishes, and soothe sensitive skin—no chemicals, no irritation, just real results.

It also helps regulate sebaceous (oil) gland activity, improving acne without the need for harsh topical products or medications.

With regular treatments, clients often report fewer breakouts, reduced itching, and an overall more balanced skin tone.

What Happens During a Session?

Red light penetrates the skin and modulates the immune response, calming cytokine activity while increasing blood flow to promote faster healing. It also enhances skin detoxification and nutrient absorption.

At Wavelength Wellness, our sessions are designed to be simple, comfortable, and empowering.

All equipment is self-operated, which gives you full control and privacy during your treatment. But don’t worry – during your initial consultation, we’ll walk you through the entire process, step-by-step.

Our friendly assistant will also be available before your first session to make sure you feel completely confident using the equipment.

For facial treatments, it's recommended to arrive with clean, product-free skin.

Here’s what a typical session looks like

Step 1:
Metabolic Activation Vibration Plate – (5 Minutes)
You’ll begin with a 5-minute session on our vibration plate.

Standing in a slight squat position, the plate generates gentle low-frequency vibrations to help stimulate circulation and activate your lymphatic system, preparing your body for red light therapy.

Feeling warmth in your legs and itching over your body is normal during this process.

It's best to come with loose fit clothing.
Step 2:
Red Light Therapy – Front Side (10 Minutes)
Next, you’ll lie down on the Medwave™ Red Light Therapy bed. This part of your treatment lasts 10 minutes and targets the front of your body.
  • Use the remote control to lower the panel so it's 10–20cm from your skin.
  • Put on the provided eye protection, then press the "on" button as soon as you are ready.
  • The panel will automatically shut off after 10 minutes – so no need to watch the clock! Sessions feel warm and calming—like sunbathing, without the UV rays.
Step 3:
Red Light Therapy – Back Side (10 Minutes)
Lift the panel enough for you to turn around and lie on your stomach, so the red light can treat the back of your body. Lower the panel to the correct distance, relax, and let the light do the work for another 10 minutes.
Step 4:
Vibration Plate – Round 2 (5 Minutes)
You’ll hop back on the vibration plate for another 5 minutes, this time to help flush toxins and enhance lymphatic drainage after your light session.
Step 5:
Post-Treatment
That’s it! Get dressed, enjoy the post-session glow, and drink plenty of water to support your body's natural detox processes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes—red light wavelengths are non-ablative, pigment-neutral, and do not trigger post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) or hypo-pigmentation.

No. Clients feel a gentle warmth; there’s no peeling, stinging, or photosensitivity. You can return to work or school immediately.

Many notice redness calming within the first 1–3 sessions. Fewer active breakouts and faster healing typically appear by weeks 3–4. Full skin-cycle results build over 8–12 sessions.

For moderate acne, we recommend 2 sessions per week for 4–6 weeks (8–12 total). Severe or cystic cases may benefit from 12–16 sessions, followed by monthly maintenance.

Breakout reduction can last months if you maintain healthy skincare habits. Most clients schedule a maintenance session every 4–6 weeks to keep inflammation low and skin clear.

Absolutely. It’s drug-free, gentle, and ideal for young skin. We simply require parental consent for clients under 18.

Yes. By reducing inflammation, balancing oil production, and improving skin healing speed, dual-wavelength photobiomodulation benefits teenage, adult, and hormone-related breakouts alike.

It can reduce reliance on harsh topicals, but it’s best used alongside dermatologist-approved cleansers or medications. Never stop prescriptions without your doctor’s guidance.

The anti-inflammatory effect of 635 nm light often reduces diffuse facial redness and supports stronger capillary walls, making it useful for mild rosacea flare-downs (consult first for severe cases).

Consistent sessions promote new collagen and normalise melanocyte activity, helping soften atrophic scars and fade hyperpigmentation over time.

No downtime. You may apply non-comedogenic makeup afterward. We simply recommend SPF 30+ daily and gentle, fragrance-free skincare to complement healing.
