At Wavelength Wellness, we use MedWave™ 635nm Narrow Light™ Therapy, a non-invasive technology that uses the therapeutic power of red light to stimulate the body’s natural healing, rejuvenation, and metabolic processes—without pain, heat, or downtime.
Safe, Non‑invasive, quick & Painless
Medical‑grade devices (FDA & SAHPRA registered)
No downtime, needles, medication, or side effects
Backed by years of science & peer-reviewed studies
Red Light Therapy (RLT), also known as photobiomodulation (PBM), is a form of light treatment that delivers red wavelengths of light to the skin and deeper tissues.
When delivered at specific wavelengths—most notably 635nm—this light energy is absorbed by the mitochondria, the “powerhouses” of your cells.
This stimulates ATP production, enhancing cellular repair, regeneration, and performance across multiple systems in the body.
Our Medwave devices™ are 3-5x more powerful than conventional red light contouring. It also utilises 585 LED focal lenses to deliver more powerful photonic energy than typical red light contouring — this more narrowed, focused design is why we call it Narrow Light™.
Red light therapy has been used in clinical settings since the 1960s, originally explored in Eastern Europe and further developed by NASA in the 1980s to promote healing in zero gravity.
Since then, it has been widely adopted in:
Medical clinics
Sports and rehab centres
Dermatology and aesthetic practices
Chiropractic and wellness facilities
Elite athletic programs and physiotherapy practices
Yes—red light therapy is non-invasive, non-thermal, and has an exceptional safety profile when used at appropriate wavelengths and doses. It is:
FDA-cleared for certain therapeutic uses
SAHPRA registered
Backed by clinical studies with no reported adverse effects when properly administered
Free of UV or damaging heat
Wellness clients looking to boost energy, detox, or support metabolic health
However, contraindications may apply for certain conditions. We assess this through a client intake form and initial consultation before starting any treatment.
